SEASIDE RESORT AND BIG FISHING PORT

Les Sables d’Olonne, a seaside resort of international fame, thanks to the Vendée Globe, is also an important fishing port. Consisting of 85 ships, the fleet of Sables d’Olonne at present employs more than 255 sailors.

In 2012, the tonnage of fish landed in the port of Les Sables d’Olonne was about 7300 tons.

Despite a diverse fishing and fishing techniques varied (see fishing techniques), the port of Sables d’Olonne has a dominance of fish trawl.

MAREE OCEANE is at the heart of the activity of Sables d’Olonne and is a reflection of the station, because of its dynamism and its evolution.
